Aesthetics is an undervalued and often forgotten branch of philosophy, partially because of the limiting nature of academic philosophy’s bias for the essay.
MVK’s objective is to demonstrate the philosophical benefits of compromise between academic structure and creative freedom through aesthetic mediums.
Sphere of Influence
Philosophically proper, MVK is heavily influenced by Ludwig Wittgenstein.
At Cal Poly SLO, MVK developed an aesthetic theory of functional beauty that emphasizes the importance of a linguistic distinction between attractiveness and beauty.
Musicians such as Lana Del Rey, Kali Uchis, SZA, Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Pink Floyd, and Kendrick Lamar capture sounds, philosophies, and language strategies that inspire MVK’s own work.
